//  My Travels and Adventures  //
My page where I can share all (or at least some) of my daily life and travels and muse on the latest world happenings.
A Little About Me
My family and my friends; without them my travels and dreams would never be possible.
What is new in New York, where I am residing. Also a bit of insight into my next adventure.
My name is Amy Klein and I am 28 years old. I have a degree in journalism from Stonybrook University in New York, and I am now self-employed as a freelance writer. My writing has taken me to places I never would have thought of visiting on my own. My primary focus is children's books, along with books on travel for women. I grew up on Long Island, but I have also lived in Texas, Bali, and India.
My Mom and Dad are my biggest supporters. My dad lives in the northern Peninsula of Michigan, and my mom is here in Queens. My three youngest siblings live with her in a really cute townhome with a yard.

They recently got a adorable Beagle they named Blink. Before moving to the city, my mom lived on Long Island, but she wanted to be near Manhattan, where her work is. She is working as a graphic designer after attending school here in the city. Her lastest project is for a shoe company.

It is fall here in Manhattan and the trees in Central Park are beautiful shades of yellow and red. The street vendors are busy selling their wares, and the city is alive with the music of street musicians. The only problem I have had is adjusting to the noise. The last place I lived was Bali, and the only noise I heard in the mornings were the buzzings of dragonflies.

My newest book info...I have spent a lot of time at the library working on my next book. This one is going to be a comparison of children from five families of different cultural backgrounds; all growing up within a few miles of each other in the Brooklyn area. It always amazes me how culturally diverse New York is.
Share Your Writing with Other Readers
I am inviting all the readers of this blog to sumbit their favorite writings. As a writer I love to share ideas and inspiration with fellow writers. This month I would like to focus on children growing up in New York, as that is the topic of the latest children's book I am working on. Please email me at amysblog@gmail.com with a link to your site or blog so I can post several new stories or musings each week.
My very favorite sites
I will try to keep to the most helpful sites! My first choice would have to be sites dedicated to women traveling alone throughout the world. (Okay, okay, I know that is not an individual site, but I had to put that in). All kiddding aside, here is my short list:
http://www.Poets.org
http://www.ritagoldengelman.com
http://www.copyblogger.com
http://www.freelancewritinggigs.com
My interests...are varied and maybe a little odd! I have been a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism ever since I was a kid, and my parents took me to all the historial reinactments we could get to. I also love to swim in the ocean, hike in the mountains, bungee jump, visit art museums, sample coffees from the local shops, eat raw sushi, watch the sunrise, spend time with my family and my dog "Pebbles".

My favorite sayings, quotes, ect...What is success? To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; that is to have succeeded. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
